Benchmade Griptilian straight edge

Hello all, I am currently sharpening my Benchmade Griptilian using a work sharp field sharpener but keep having a problem. Everytime I go to test the sharpness on a piece of paper, I have to turn it at an angle for it to cut and also when it does cut the cut is straight it has ups and downs and is not a straight clean cut. Can anyone offer advice or tips on why my edge does not cut straight and why I have to hold it at an angle to cut paper?

Hi Cheyne,

Sounds like you are not fully apexing the edge down the full length of the blade and/or have retained a burr on the knife.

Ok, I think its the burr. How do I tell if it is a burr? and not retain the burr?
