okay so i just bought the grip the other night and I love it. however I don't have much experience with d2 steel. how much care does this steel require? do I need to rinse and grease it after being exposed to sweat(in particular sweaty hands and clothes) or small amounts of water? also with regular use(everyday carry) how often does it need to be oiled and all the stuff inside it(pocket lint/dirt etc)need cleaned out? thanks for taking the time to reply.

How often? How about "never"? :D

Seriously, D2 is the closest thing to "Stainless" among non-stainless steels, if it makes any sense at all?

Had mine in my pocket for over a week, walking the West Highland Way in Scotland...and it rained EVERY day! No issue with rust...not even the start of a patina.

From what I've HEARD
It patinas more than rusts.

But with the knife itself,
You should clean out pocket lint and dirt anyways because it tends to make Griptilians act funny.
The lint that gets stuck on the Axis lock area can mess with the smoothness of the opening.
I also learned that putting a drop of oil on the tang of the blade where the Axis lock-locks, will help with slight play.
Loc-tite is also your best friend for your Griptilian too.
I'm no expert with it, but if you have any questions about the knife itself, leave me a visitor message and I'll try to help you.

I don't have the Griptillian but have the Bone Collector. Just don't let the blade get too dull and it'll be easier to sharpen.

I'm not the most judicious knife owner, I just clean and oil it once I see a bunch of pocket lint built up or it gets gritty on opening/closing. +1 for Loc-tite, a drop of the blue stuff keeps the pivot screw from backing out.
