Is anyone familiar with Benchmade's reputation for heat treating D2 ? I've read a lot of comparisons between D2 and 154CM lately and although everyone has their favorite, it seems to me that the real difference comes down to the heat treating of the steel. I just ordered a new Benchmade HD Mini Hardtail with the D2 blade and I'm thrilled to own my first D2 knife. Benchmade's reputation for quality , innovation , materials and fit & finish is outstanding so I'd like to think that their heat treating methods were of the same caliber. But since I'm not a "pro" by any means I was hoping that you guys would know how Benchmade's heat treating job on D2 is (?) Thanks.

I can't compare it to other companies D2 but I have a BM fixed blade that held it's edge for a long time when I cleaned and skinned a 10' gator and deboned a deer this year. I don't think you will be disappointed.

10' gator ??? Wow. Well , I'm in New England so I don't see many gator skinnings in my future. But it's nice to know that your D2 was able to handle that job with no problem. I keep hearing about Bob Dozier and his great work with D2. I was just hoping to find out more about Benchmade's work with Heat treating their D2 blades. Thanks man.
