Benchmade HK 14210 and Kershaw Chive; good EDC combo?

Ahhhh, I was having a really tough time deciding what folder to get, and you guys gave me a ton of good ideas last week. I went to a local store that had Benchmade knives so i could try out the Axis lock first-hand. They had a mini-Pardue, which I quite liked. Well, except for the width of the knide across the handles. The action was sooooo smooth, by far the nicest of any knife I've ever felt. Felt like quality. But, it was a bit bigger than I was expecting, even though it's on the small end of the Benchmarks.

The salesperson pulled out a Kershaw Chive and said to take a look. At first I thought it was too small. But, once I played with the assisted action, I was hooked, lol. It's a sweet knife also.

The Chive would be perfect to pull out at work, so as not to raise eyebrows. And the HK 14210 would be perfect for tasks that require a bit stronger knife/blade. The Chive is so small, that if I can carry around the 14210 I doubt I'd even notive the extra bulk of the Chive :-)

And the price of the two knives together is about the same as the BM 960 I was thinking of getting before. Yeah, I know I change my mind a lot, sorry.

Do many ppl carry two EDC's? What do you think of the combo I've suggested? I really like the look of the HK knife, and it's about the right size for a slightly larger EDC folder. And the Chive is just too slick, ppl friendly, and has a good rep from what I've seen.

Thanks,

Mike

I personally think the HK 14210 is too small for your "larger" knife.

I do like the Chive however and think it's a great knife.

Hey Mike, I always EDC two knives (and many folks here EDC many, many more than two :D ) Sounds like a good combo, but I would agree that the HK might not be enough knife for your "big" knife. Get it and try it! If you find that it isn't adequate for your EDC tasks, then you get to buy another knife! Yippee!

The Chive sure is FUN, though. No doubt about that.

I EDC two knives (Benchmade Rukus and Kershaw Leek), one Leatherman black Charge TI multi-tool, 2 flashlights (Surefire U2 and Coast LED), and a gun or two everyday. Consider yourself normal. I would rather carry one large and one small than two smalls, but that is just Me!;)

I agree. I just got one because I wanted a smaller version of my Ares, and it's about as close as I can get. Beady, you should check out the Ares if you want a little more bump in the trunk. :D
