While purusing the Benchmade website in the quest for my first Benchmade ( its sad, I know, but none of their knive really apealed to me) I came upon this handsome blade. It seems to be perfect for a nice and small EDC that I can trust but isn't obtrusive. My only questions are:1 does anyone own this knife or have any experience with it? and 2 Where can I get one? It says "backordered" but it looks new to me and I'd rather not order directly from the company as a shop or website is probably 50-30% cheaper.
Thanks for the help:thumbup:

Thats a brand new model for 2007. I haven't seen it anywhere yet, but would expect them to be hitting the stores pretty soon.

Wow, your tastes are really different than mine. It looks so post-human, "Rise of the Machine" to me. For the price ($20?) it seems okay for a budget folder for personel-in-action, for whom losing it would not be a big concern over something more expensive.

whoah, one piece handle, just noticed that mentioned-and it does look like the spine is solid. I wouldn't necessarily call that good, as the steel can't be all that thick to fold over like a book cover to form the handle, but it's interesting.

The ginormous hole with teensy bits of steel left to connect the sharp bit to the tang bit doesn't make me feel all that hot about it either, but...

when I say EDC it ussually equates to "decent and tough but if I break it, lose it, or get it confiscated I won't be out too much or really care a lot" It seems to be ok for SD but I haven't handled so it may really be a POS

i just ordered one the other day, i think it looks pretty slick, i'll let you know what its like when i get it on wed.

well i am sure unless one uses it as a pry bar, which i am pretty sure is a no-no, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, I will post a reveiw later tonight in any case

So it finally came. The size is actually a bit bigger than i imaginied, and thats a good thing. It fills my hand pretty good (i wear large size gloves), it has a good grip, and i really like the choil on the blade that allows you to "choke up" on the knife for certain tasks. Lock up is solid, the handle is one peice, making it a frame lock. The pocket clip comes of the knife a bit more than normal, you could clip it to some incredibally thick pants, yet it still stays tight in the pocket in dress pants. There is no lanyard hole but more so of a lanyard loop which also houses a small glass breaker on the butt of the knife. Easy one hand open close, the big hole works well for opening, i think its primarily an aestetic thing, it seems that a thumbstud would physically make more sense. The one thing I see people not liking is the glass breaker, its what you expect of a glassbreaker, sharp and pointy, it could be somewhat uncomfortable for some users, primarily those with sensitive skin ;)

Sorry to stray from the topic @ hand, but still w/in Benchmade territory, does anyone else have this knife? I found it through BudK. com and loved it, even more so when I got it. AUS8 blade, I cut kindling w/ it one night, not my 1st choice, but it still has a good edge to it. I'm just wanting to get other owner's opinions on it, thanks. Cheers.

how comfy is the handle? It looks like after about a minute
of cutting I'd be done with it. but of course I haven't handled it yet.
As a note, a Delica bothers me after awhile. So, I am a
handle comfort seeker. :-)

It actually fits very well, in my hand that is. The blade spine near the handle has ridges on it so you can rest your thumb there for easier cutting if needed. I love it, it's only second favorite to my Ti-Lite that I have :) Cheers.
