Benchmade HK Mini-Ascender

The HK Mini-Ascender is a good-looking, light-weight, EDC blade, reasonably sharp out of the box and with an excellent pocket clip. It feels good in my hand. I would buy another at or around the $40 I paid, although I have since seen it for a few bucks less, plus shipping.

Not to take anything away from the M-A, but there are several other Chinese-made folders you also may want to consider:

-- The CRKT Drifter in both G10 and SS models. Like the M-A, the G10 is a liner-lock; the SS is a framelock. Either can be had for under $20, sometimes including shipping, if you are lucky.

-- The Sanrenmu 710, a framelock sold from Hong Kong for under $15 or so shipped. This brand is controversial with many here for political reasons and with me because I dislike having my PayPal go through possibly unsafe foreign banks. But the knife itself has grown on me and I like it a lot, although it is feels just a tad bit heavy for comfortable pocket carry for my taste. YMMV.

-- The Spyderco Persistence: At under $30, a favorite in the Spydie line. A wonderful design as you will hear from fans who regularly ask Sal to please produce in an upscale version.

I hope this helps. These are all excellent blades at affordable prices.

But would u consider the Ascender as worth the money, is it a quality knife? how would u compare it say to the Kershaw Zing?

Worth the money? To me, yes.
Quality knife? Yes - absolutely.
Zing? No experience. That's why I listed other blades with which I am experienced.
