Does anyone have a Benchmade HK14205AXIS? I've heard there are some problems with some of them in that the blade gets dinged up and hits the spacers in the handle when the blade is closed. Is this a problem with many or all of these models or is it just a problem with a few of the first production models? I don't understand how this could happen considering the class of Benchmade and the price range of these knives. I would expect these to be in perfect working order and craftsmanship.

I think this was just in the first run of them...

The HK series from Benchmade are thought by many on here to be their highest quality knives.

I was thinking the HK series would be some of their highest quality knives as well. When I heard some people talking about these problems, I was hoping they were isolated instances. It didn't deter me from ordering one :) I guess I'll find out how well they're built soon enough.

There's another thread on the 14210 with similar issues to the 14205 that was posted a little while back. I guess it is a problem; however I have a 14210 and have had no issues whatever with it.

I rate its' quality as almost a higher-end Griptilian.

I've also had no issues with my 14210. In fact, it surprised me by knocking my mini-Ritter out of my pocket as EDC. I don't have the blade quite as sharp as the S30V blade on my mini-Ritter yet, but it's coming. And the 14210 handle is everything that the mini-Grip SHOULD have been. They're the same length, but that hook under the blade tang on the mini-Grips knocks you out of 1/4" of handle space.

I just received my 14205 here in Iraq. I don't see any issues, fit and finish look great...I didn't want to get a "first production" run...makes you cringe at using it; oh well.:D

That's good to hear you guys haven't had problems with your HK14210 or HK14205. The more I hear about people not having problems the better :)

I have a First Production 14205, and it is perfect in every way--no "ding" problem. I am absolutely head over heels about this knife.

I've got a 14255 and mine chipped the bt2 coating on the liners. I also had two screw heads strip on me. Its going back to BM to get tweaked. I'm kinda glad to hear that I'm not the only one with the "dinging" problem.
