Hi All,

I found in a collection of knives an unboxed folder that had some rub marks on the scales. I started to research the knife and I am a little confused. On one side of the blade it is marked Balisong, while I am a newbie I know that this is not a balisong.

Another question: Is there anyway to remove the marks on the scales? I can't think of any short of stripping the anodize off and reapplying, which I can't do.

Manufacturer: Benchmade
Blade Steel: ATS-34
Blade Length: 3.5"
OAL: 8"
Markings Thumbpost side : Benchmade USA Balisong (Butterfly Logo)
Markings Other side: 0817 ATS-34 Brend Design (Union Jack Flag Logo)
Condition: Marks on scales (Scales appear to be anodized)

Benchmade got famous making balisongs, and "bali-song" (with the hyphen) was their original trade name. You can see that their balisongs today still have that marking. However, their folders are now marked "Benchmade." The fact that yours says "bali-song" instead indicates that it's a very early Benchmade model. Also the fact that it's made with ATS-34 steel indicates that it's older, since now they use the American equivalent, 154CM.

That looks to be a match. Any ideas on how to get the scuff marks out? Looks to be from carrying.
