cool. i cant wait to here about it. so whats the diff between blade steel, and which one did you get.

You can't go wrong with either choice.
N690 is pretty much the Austrian version of VG-10.

Got my N690 JuJu today.
It's a heckuvalotta knife for the money.
Not a chisel grind fan, but this one is begging for some use and a sharpening to hone my skills on this type of grind.

Sheath retention--seems like the sheath will wear away at the cordwrap.
And the skull menuke looks like a monkey head. Otherwise, this may well be the best buy bargain knife in Benchmade's fixed blade line-up.

Hey agony..

Yaaa looks like a sweet little knife, I expect to have mine very soon..

Can the "monkey head" be taken off, without damaging the wrap ??

Keep your eyes peeled,, I should have a streamlined multi-carry sheath for this shortly..

It seems they may have used a touch of epoxy on the head. That, or the wrap is so frickin' tight. You should, with time and paitence, be able to remove the head. As for the wrap, I would suspect it would loosen up a little with that head being around an 1/8" I think. Some light epoxy might do the trick. This is not first hand knowledge, just my guesstamits :D

Hey, let me know when you get that made, I love this knife, hate the sheath!!!

I received my JuJu a few days ago. It is a very stout knife. The stock steel is a just a touch under 1/4" thick and mine was shaving sharp right out of the box. The cord wrap is nice and tight. It has been epoxy coated for extra durability. They use a type of epoxy like I use on my Japanese wraps. It soaks into the cord and does not dry glossy. The menuki is not bad at all it is probably made from pewter. The cost of a silver skull menuki would be almost as much as the entire price of this knife. For the money I don't think you can beat this blade. The Benchmade/Snody JuJu is the best production tactical fixed blade I have come across in a while for the price.

If you are into Japanese inspired tactical fixed blades and you want one for a definite user or carry knife then you need to pick one of these up. (The JuJu works out well for me because I rarely use my Japanese customs. They just sit in the safe. Now I can happily use the JuJu without any regrets or worries about scuffing up an expensive knife.) This thing is great! I will most likely pick another one up when they are available in 440C.

The sheath is o.k. I did not like the belt clip portion so I removed it from the rest of the sheath. The sheath is a plastic molded version but it does have a neat simulated stingray skin (same) texture.

Just looked at the picture. That wrap is a little sloppy looking. Of course, to do it right would add to the cost of the knife, but still seems a little crappy compared to what BM usually produces...

I've got a JuJu on order and am very excited.

Regarding the comment by Chiro75, the JuJu is part of the Red Line over at Benchmade so direct comparison to the other lines Gold, Black or Blue would be a little off base (no disrespect intended toward Chiro75, your blades are fantastic).

Just my 0.02

Granted the wrap may not be the best out there, the cool thing is someone with a tighter budget can get a beautiful piece of steel that will put a smile on their face. I see it as a stepping stone towards a custom wrap job. As their knowledge and budget increase, they will be able to distinguish between quality and factory (so to speak). It's all good. :D ;)

It's not a terrible wrap, just a little sloppy. If you're going to do it, I doubt it's much harder to make it look decent vs looking sloppy. But, you can't have everything! :D
For some reason the knife doesn't appeal to me, but Benchmade is always like that to me. I go "ho hum. Another Benchmade...yawn..." then I get a chance to hold and use the knife and I'm blown away. That happened with my mini-AFCK and my Pinnacle and I love those knives, but just looking at them in pictures they seem boring. It's nice to see a well-priced knife with good steel. I'd take a good piece of steel over a good wrap any day of the week!

Just went and looked at Knifecenter to get an idea of the price and I spent a few minutes looking at the preorder items. That Gravitator folder sure looks pretty damn familiar! Anyone know the story of that knife? If I had a bigger ego I'd think Benchmade has seen my avatar at some point!
