I was looking at this Benchmade knife in a local dealer acupple days ago and found one that I really liked. I got the name of it (940SBT ?) and decided too do a little research before i bought it. Now its been 2 days and about 100 web sites later(including Benchmades own web site) i have NO info on this knife; I can't find it any where. If any body knows a site that has this knife or any thing like that it would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot,
Adam.

a 940SBT is a partially serrated, BT2 coated Warren Osbourne model w/axis lock.

They are really new, and since BM doesn't ship to internet dealers right away, you may have a tough time on the 'net.

Hello Sharp15,

The 940 is a great knife. I have had mine for about 3 weeks now. If you do a search of the forum with the keyword 940 you should come up with alot of info on it.

940 is a new Osborne designed Benchmade knife and was not in their Official 2000 catalogue. It was, however on a one page insert with a tab that says, "NEW RELEASES!"
The 722 Pardue Axis Folder is on the reverse side. Information includes the following:
Blade: 154CM 59-61HRC, 3.40" (8.64cm) Thickness .115" Open 7.87 Closed 4.47" Weight: 2.90oz. (82gm) Handle: 6061-T6 Aluminum alloy, bead blasted, deep green color anodized, heat treated 410 Stainless Steel Liners, Anodized Titanium Back-Spacer, Lock Mechanism: Axis Lock.

The narrative touts the piece as "a 100 percent totally ambidextrous cutting tool."

My opinion, very nice style, gotta like the Axis lock and a "split the difference" size between the the popular 710 and 705 models. Real nice looking knife. Hope that such a nice design can benefit from better QC than BM is known for. I'm waiting for the prices to stabilize a bit from the "new knife everybody really wants one" range.

940 is plain satin blade, S is satin ComboEdge, BT is plain edge BT2 coated blade and SBT is ComboEdge BT2 Coated blade.

I picked up a 940 today. Seems to be built fairly well. The edge is ground uniformly on both sides. I noticed tonight when I was playing with it that the blade doesn't sit directly in the center of the handle when the knife is closed. The blade gets pretty close to the handle near the tip (if that makes sense). It isn't rubbing so I will let it go for the time being. Overall very impressed with the knife. Very lightweight.
