I would like to know if I'm reading the warranty correctly. It says there is non-warranty work that includes blade and handle replacement. Has anyone ever exercised this with Benchmade? It sounds like turning a knife for a rebuilt model?

benchmade will replace a blade or handle under warranty for free if they’re defective. i’ve had the scales & liners on my 580 and the aluminum handle slabs on my 490 (no liners on that model) replaced at no charge. they will also replace a blade (i believe scales too but i'm not sure) for whatever other reason for a percentage of the cost of the knife, cant remember how much though

That's really top shelf service!

yeah their customer service is pretty damn good. on the 580 they replaced both scales, both liners, the washers & all the screws & springs. fake with the 490 minus the liners & washers, which it doesn’t have. gotten plenty of free thumbstuds, clips & screws from them over the years too. they’re super friendly too, they’ll even chat about knives with you when you call if they’re not too busy
