Hello all,

Does anyone know whether Benchmade manufacture a folding knife (not an automatic) which has Black anodized machined 6061 T-6 aluminum handles?

The only folders from Benchmade that I've seen with such handles are all automatic blades! Unfortunately, from where I come from such blades are illegal.

Is there a possibility that in 2012 they may launch such a blade?

For me personally, nothing beats the feel of the aluminium handles that Benchmade put on their blades!!!

Regards,

Yep, the old "Presidio" series has these scales. They come in both auto and manual. They recently introduced a "Presidio Ultra" with zytel-ish handles and 440C instead of 154CM. A friend has the Presidio tanto auto and it's a bullet proof knife, very heavy though. Oh, my bro in law has a Mel Pardue AXIS knife with smooth black aluminum scales, don't rememebr model nimber but it's smaller (maybe 3" blade) and very nice.

Benchmade 520.

It's one tank of a folder. I know it looks like one of those auto-AXIS models, but it's not. It's a manual folder with black anodized aluminum handles.

The 707 is aluminum with a G10 insert.

I personally can't stand al handles because they get damaged easily and feel cold and 'lifeless' for lack of a better term. To each their own though.

The 520 Presidio has a 3.42" x .125" drop point blade of 154CM steel with a thumb stud deployment and an AXIS lock. It has 420J SS liner that has up-curved thumb jimping and a black-anodized machined Al handle on each side with decent ribbing for a good grip. It's a cool handle... seriously. Pick up that 5.6 oz hunk of metal bare handed in the winter and you'll see what I mean. If you get one without the thumb studs be forewarned - you might have a 5000 Auto-Presidio - a fully auto version. I have both... the 520 is a lot more useful.

Gotta love Aluminium. The Presidio has got to have the most comfortable handle of any knife I've ever come across, bar none. My other beefs with it aside, it is one hell of a comfortable design.
