Hello all. I have lurked for a while, but this is my first post.
I have a small (very small compared to some of you all) collection of knives that I love including:

Osborne 940, Spyderco delica, SAK Farmer –*I love that thing, SAK mini champ, and classic, Leatherman Wave, Micra, and a Buck 110 that I haven't seen in a couple years but it's around here somewhere. :D

Anyway, I held a BM Kulgera today at a local store, and was surprised by the stiff action. I have a benchmade 940 osborne, and it has been butter since day one. Anyone else experience this with that model, or do you think it was just a fluke? I have been thinking about buying a Kulgera for a month or so, but now that I felt that action, I'm not so sure.

just a fluke - mine was smooth as silk from day one - first axis i have owned and plan on getting more because of how sweet the kulgera is.

I just bought my wife one. While the action isn't as smooth (read, "loose") as some of my larger folders, the action is definitely openable quickly with some practice.

This isn't a very heavy bladed design, so I wouldn't expect it to open mainly of its own weight like my Superhawk, for example.

+1 on the blade weight and momentum. This knife just needs a slight nudge to fully deply but we know why . . . While the 710 needs to be "flipped" and both the Skirmish and the 710 are Blue Class.

Recommendation: try another 930. No two are exactly the same. While these are production knives, they're hand assembled and sometimes the person doing the job can be "off" by just a little bit. The outcome of that can be a tight mechanism or off centered blade. It's a good knife, get one that works for you and enjoy using it!

My 930 is very smooth, though it didn't come very sharp.
I do highly recommend it though, very light weight, smooth, high quality materials, and feels good in hand.

Perhaps the pivot screw was tensioned just a bit tight.

Yes, perhaps. The spring tension on the axis thumb-stud also seemed very stiff so between the two stiff feelings, the overall feel was not-so-hot. I am sure it was a fluke, but since they only had the one in stock, I will have to hope for the best if/when I order it from ebay.

Thanks for chiming in guys.
