I was thinking of buying the Benchmade LFK PE folder (pretty large blade). Does anyone have one and can they pass along any comments?

Thanks.

I own a Benchmade 10100 LFK (PE = plain edge?) To me, the biggest feature is the blade. A huge 5.2" 440c clip point, made from relatively thin stock for a megafolder, with a very thin hollow grind makes this a real slicer. With such a fine edge and point, it's NOT the knife you want for any prying/survival/abusive tasks, but for regular cutting tasks, it excels. It's a better slicer then any other megafolder I've tried (REKAT Sifu, CS Voyager, etc.) It has large thumb studs and is easy to open with either hand.

The knife comes with both a metal pocket clip and a nylon belt sheath so you can use either one---prefer pocket clips myself.

What I don't like so much is the handle and lock. The collapsing guard works well and is sturdy enough, but I wouldn't mind just having a large handle. It's a cool gimmick, but still, a gimmick. Also, I'm not a fan of the rubber/santoprene portions on the handle---rather they were something that wasn't so "grippy" in my pocket.

The knife uses a liner lock (probably my least favorite locking mechanism) and it's well, a typical liner lock. If you don't like them, the LFK won't change your mind.

Overall, I like the knife, it's not perfect, but for only costing $60, it's a great value.

For the price, it was above expectations. It has a solid feel overall with some heft. The neprene does flex alittle but I didn't find it to grippy etc. The liner was very solid on mine and it took awhile for me to be able to close it one handed (with thumb). The blade steel is good, but after cutting up dozens of cardboard boxes for a month, it was getting dull. But sharpening was a breeze. I would get it as a cool, big folding utility knife. O yea, I personally didn't have a problem with the handle size and i have medium hands.

I have one and love it. I went to Knifecenter.com warehouse (I live near by) to get a Sebenza and had a little money left over (leaving a knife store with money is sacrilege). I asked them if they had anything "neat" in a folder. Something I may not have had before. One of the guys had a LFK on his desk about to ship, and opened it up so I could check it out. It seemed fairly well made for what it was was cheap enough so I decided to get it. I'm not a fan of 440c (prefer S30V, vg10) but BM does a good job with it. I have been using it daily to cut 15mm kern-mantle rope and the deep hollow grind and thin edge make this thing a GREAT slicer. It is very easy to sharpen due to the thin edge. I am surprised that I like a knife like this so much but I have to say I feel this one is a great value for a mega-folder.
