so about 3 weeks ago i went on a camping trip with some friends and obviously i took my beloved benchmade mini griptillian for all around use. sound good right? nah. when i came home from camping i noticed while sharpening one of the two omega springs broke.. so obviously i sent it into benchmade and specifically told them to not sharpen the edge (because i had just sharpened it the day before i sent it off) and i asked them to put some thread locker in the pivot screw (if they can even do that) but i got an email about a week ago saying the service is finished and they will be shipping it off soon. and it is coming in tomorrow (monday jun 28th), so ill post an update and some photos tomorrow when i can! I'm excited. :)

Lifesharp services provided by Benchmade are among the best in the business. I've sent many knives up and have always been happy with the results. There was the 812 AFCK where they decided to replace the handle scales and I got the very last set made. There was the 672 Optimizer I sent up for lock problems that they couldn't fix, and replaced by a new 913D2 which they built for me. Simply send a knife up for sharpening and they replace the springs, screws, pivot; must be a code somewhere that says "make it right", which over many years has got to be true. They aren't perfect in their efforts, but have always been good enough to satisfy my requests when needed. I give them five gold stars!

Just got my Benchmade in, far surpassed my expectations! not only did they replace the omega springs but they replaced the screws and washers! they also cleaned, oiled and adjusted it! definitely happy with the life sharp service! :)

Agreed. I have used the service many times, always a pleasure.

I've used the service a few times too, love it. Sent them an sticky auto, that opened in slow motion. Came back sharpened and working flawless,,, :)

I've had good luck asking for something simple only to have the knife come back getting the Spa treatment. You can't beat it. Really top notch.

I'm happy to hear about the great service by BM. I'll have to give it a try sometime. How long is the turn around roughly ?

Benchmade's LifeSharp program is the reason I primarily carry and use BM knives. I have a 790 Subrosa which is an assisted opener. Last year it got to the point where one in five or so openings it didn't fully open to the locked position. When I sent it in for sharpening as part of the LifeSharp program, I noted the issue on the form. They sent it back tuned up and good as new. All at no charge - only cost is to mail it to them.

That's awesome. Do any other knife manufacturers offer a knife sharpening service similar to Life Sharp ? Spyderco or ZT ?

Not sure about Spyderco or ZT, but Buck does the same service at I believe $6.95 per knife. Recently talked a guy into throwing in a used and abused 505 Buck Knight in as part of a trade on a knife deal. It was dirty, blade was dull and didn't snap open or closed anymore. Sent it in with a check and same as Benchmade, sharpened and tuned up like new!

D2 710 came back with everything I requested. New blade(old one rusted), new stand offs, new Omega springs and dead centered. Took just under 3 weeks.

Kai Cultery (Zero Tolerance, Kershaw) also sharpens their knives.

Most custom makers will also sharpen their knives.

I sent both of my Griptilians in for new blades, and I'm hoping they replace the washers and such on the older one. I can't wait to get them back! Sent them a couple I days ago.
