There is a supposedly limited edition benchmade switchback (http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=BM923SBLK) but I can't find any info about it. Benchmade's site has switchbacks with bigger blades, and only the 923S-01 BLK Taurus matches the 3.32 blade and 2.5 oz, yet the knife at knifecenter doesn't have the Taurus logo on it.

Is the link above for an older, limited edition knife? If so any info on it anywhere? How many were produced (doesn't matter much other than my curiosity)? What year produced, is it discontinued, etc. Anyone have it, how good is it?

Also interested if it is small enough to be a good daily carry in your pocket. Currently use a cheapy CRKT KISS spectra, but the blade is just too small and boy did it dull fast.

Well, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will respond, but that does look like something I've seen for sale here and there from time to time. I'm guessing it was produced in either 2004 or 2005, and I kind of think it was a "regular" production, with the Taurus as the limited edition. Although, even if it was a regular production knife, I don't think they really produced that many, so it could maybe almost kinda sorta qualify in a sort of distant way as a limited edition. Vaguely. It'd be worth checking the PDF catalogs available on the Benchmade website to see if it's something that was ever listed.

As for usefulness, I imagine that the Switchback would serve you quite well. The steel on both blades should hold up pretty well (maybe in slight favor of the 154CM), Benchmade does quite well with the quality of products they sell. I would personally find the serrations to get in the way, but that's just me. And also, I doubt I would ever use the smaller blade, but that may be different for you depending on your uses.

Hey, thanks. I had come across the 921's page but discounted it as too long a blade....didn't see the 923 listed below. But glad I have now. Never did find it in any pdfs though. :-(

Huh, wonder if knifecenter has the specs wrong? Guess I will find out. :-) I really like the kanto style blade and the little second blade actually will be useful to me.

Don't really care about the limited status, just want a decent blade and was a little hesitant because I couldn't find any info on it.
