Benchmade Liners

I just bought my first Benchmade knife, a plain edge Griptilian. I'm very pleased with the purchase and think this may be the best pocket knife that I have owned. However, I was a little disapointed that the liners are only 3/4 the length of the handle. It's a substantial knife but I think that full length liners would make it more substantial. Is this an attempt to reduce costs or is there some practical reason for the short liners? I doubt the extra inch of metal would add much more weight to the knife. Is this a common feature of benchmade knives?

I don't think it's a common feature in BM's knives.....take a look at the G10 models like he 710 &..... they all have full (titanium) liners under the G10-slabs.
The griptilian is a wonderfull knife...one of the best in value-for-money! I also thuoght and read about the shot liners, and so I bought myself a mini-version, they have full liners. (I once read that the liners are thesame size on the mini and regular version....could explain it)
Anyways, I've had my mini for 8 months now and used it hard everyday...besides sharpening once and awhile it hold up great! Even thuogh I also own a 690, the gripty stays my EDC...

Hope it gives you a littlebit of an answer,
Davy
