Has anybody else noticed that several internet dealers are marking down their Benchmade stock at the same time? Anybody know (if you can say) what's happening?

I have noticed the drops on discontinued items. It's probably an attempt to move the merchandise so that they can have the room for the new Benchmades.

I think it's a self-fulfilling prophecy-type thing -- if one dealer decides to clear out old stock, the others get stuck with nothing moving until he's finished with his, and by then there's no more customers for theirs. So they have to discount, fast.

I jumped on Bayou Lafourche's offer and got a BM Boguszewski Spike; after that, I didn't even look at anyone else's Benchmades, discounted or not.

Of course, I still neeeed a 710 and I like the look of the Griptilian ...

I just ordered a BM 800 AFCK from Bayou Lafourche. In talking with the owner, he stated that he was making room for the newer stuff. It was time to get rid of the stuff in the stock room. He was telling me that the reason for the rock bottom prices will almost ensure a sale, even if he ends up loosing money. I know that I bought mine for less than cost. Listen up people. THIS IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR HANDS ON THE GOOD STUFF!! Once they are gone, That's it!

Thanks for the "up fronts" guys. I'll have to check this out.

Just picked up a brand new Benchmade this weekend. Not sure of the model number, but it looks like a slightly smaller AFCK, with G10 handles, liner lock, thumb ramp notches on back of blade. Blade say GIN1 on it? Sharp enough to scare the hair off a gnat's ass! Blade also says, "Pre-Production 0589/1000. Price was obscenely low at $43.

The patterns listed as markdowns have been dropped from the 2001 lineup or, as in the case of the AFCK's, are being modified by BM for 2001. These are NIB first quality pieces. As stated above, once these "deals" are gone, it's back to the higher 2001 prices. md
