I recently purchased a Benchmade McHenry&Williams #705BT-04 axis lock. This knife is 001 of 250 and is stamped such on the blade. Wondering if this knife has any additional value. Never Used, in plastic and still in box with all papers. Any info appreciated.

I don't know about anywhere else but I have not seen a lot a extra value in these special editions. I have the 705-04 as well as a 705-401 (my EDC) and did not pay much over he standard 705 for either of them. Someone else will probably contradict me but I would not expect to get a big premium for it. Nice knife though! Steven

Are the markings #001 of 250 or it is just 1 out of 250? Is there a #002, etc, or are they all 001.

That's the olive drab D2 version I think. I think those are uniquely numbered. One sold on ebay awhile back and was numbered "029/250". If yours says "001/250" then it may be the first one.

As to value, it depends.

It is a discontinued model, it is a special edition, but it is a model that wasn't overly popular. While the model is discontinued, the model can still be found in stores.

So ... in the end it will probably increase in value, but how long will it take. If you feel like making it a collectable and keeping it mint, do so (I probably would, but I'm willing to wait and enjoy the ownership).

I don't think it has any additional value, not that it is not valuable in its own right. This is not "the #1" knife made, it is just 1 of 250 made. It is a very cool folder, IMHO.

Actually DGG..that IS the number 1 knife made
when BM writes 001/250 it means its the first
1 out of 1000 means its one of the 1000 made
