Well I had posted this in the AFCK + ZIP tie = WOW thread, but thought it could use it's own thread because this is a really cool knife..

Here are the specs on it..
G10 handle scales, Titanium liner lock, 3.25in. ATS-34 stainless steel blade, 7.65in. overall, heavy steel pocket clip. Plain edge...
Stock Picture Right after it showed up..

Over all this is a really neat knife in the stock form.. but I just can't leave well enough alone.. The only Cons were the plastic back spacer was cracked in several pieces And the thumb hole was a bit hard for my thumb size to catch properly to open with ease.. but I fixed that.. ;)

The first Mod I did to it was to Polish all the hardware on the knife.. Had this knife had a BT coated blade I would have left everything black on it.. But I think it looks much better with a silver blade for the screws and clip to match.. The second mod was, I had noticed that the Clip in it's stock position *tip down carry.. was protruding up past the knifes contour where the finger groove and liner release are.. So I simply used a dremal and matched that contour on the clip and smoothed out all the rough edges..

OK well after doing some more reading and Owning a Waved Emerson Mini CQC7.. I decided to mod on the lil Mini AFCK a bit more.. I had already polished the hardware on it and ground a recess curve into the Clip for the tip down carry. And smoothed out the tang on the back strap of the blade so it doesn't pinch me anymore.. . . But after reading this article I wanted to try more.. I found that opening up the Spyde thumb hole made regular opening alot easier.. but then I attached the zip tie and added a tiny bit of CA glue to it just to ensure it would not come loose.. I tapped the scales with 4-40 allen head screws and relocated the clip for tip up carry .. and this thing rocks.. I just wish that there was a better way to get the WAVE feature on it with out it being plastic.. Someone should design a bolt on attachment and they could make some good money .. I would buy one for sure..
Anyway thanks for the tips.. Here are some pics..

Also to note.. After I took the knife apart to file flush the new screws. I found that the stock plastic back spacer was cracked in about 5 pieces.. So I replaced it with some small brass washers as a temp fix..

I know some people are going to think OMG he just ruined a discontinued Knife.. But it is more mine now and works alot better so I think I improved on it.. Thanks again for the tips..

Thank ya for looking..

I've got one of those, and EDCed it for a while. Great little knife!

Looks like you also ran across my pet peeve: that the clip was both too big for the knife, and int he wrong location. Nice job on remedying that situation!

I like to do small stuff here and there to some of my EDC's too. Doing mods like that truly makes the knife yours. Nice work.

I hardly carry my mini anymore but I really like the knife.the one I have is M2 steel

great job. I esp. love the mirror polish. I don't like subdued (black, satin, bead blasted) finishes for the most part. And the tip up carry is a must for me :)

I made it tip up because that is the only way to get the zip tie wave to function properly when pulling it out of the pocket.. plus I have just gotten use to tip up carry and it is just my prefrence

Well Jeff nice job looks alot like the Mini AFCK I owned once! I hate the black blades and the clips. I sandblasted mine and then polished it with a dremel and jewelers rouge so it has a satin look about it I made a back spacer out of aluminum for mine which I polished also and blasted it for a satin look. My recent acquisition a Kershaw Spec Bump had a black pocket clip so off to the blaster I went and re-did my pocket clip on that one and It looks great now!

Thanks for all the comments.. I really like this little knife.. I wish I could find a solid aluminum back strap or someone that makes them.. I do not have the tools to make one or I would give it a shot.
I have noticed this thing is very picky about getting the blade to center with the washers I used as a spacer. It is finally centered after messing with it though. I bet a bead blast blade would look good on it.. I thought about giving mine a satin look but I like the BENCHMADE and buttery fly etched on the blade.. I am sure that would go away if I did that.. maybe later on.. But again thank all of you guys that have looked and commented on my post.

Looks good, how did you polish the hardware? I was thinking of polishing all the hardware on my 940 because I polished the clip. Did you use a Dremel or what?

Yep A dremal and the polishing kit from wal mart and then topped it off with some metal polish to get it to shine up .. Thne a once over with a cape cod cloth..
