Got to hold a Mini Ambush one today and if felt pretty nice. Not as nice as a Mini Griptilian but the price was $50 locally vs. $90 for the mini grip. Any thoughts on this? Same sort of opening system I believe, but it was heavier and the handle, well, wider. Kinda looked more rugged and sturdy.

Thoughts on comparison head to head? And if I am getting a Spyderco Persistence, which would be better to also own, so as I dont get an exact duplicate.

I had a Mini Ambush for a while and I think it is highly under-rated. Nice knife for the price.

i have a mini ambush and i like the size over the mini grip, handle especially, but the aus8 doesnt do much for me. i dont know much about the rolling lock, but the indraft bar on mine broke, and ive heard of several others having this problem too, and when it breaks, there is no closed retention, and i dont mean not enough, i mean literally if you tilt it, the blade will freely swing open 1/2-1/4 of the way.

Sweet, I read that. I stumbled across the Ambush today. One store has several outlets in Memphis and I went to one in my area earlier in the week and loved the Mini Grip. Then on a lark, drove to the other one and they had the Mini Grip and a Mini Ambush and a Delica. Several Kershaws as well. Well, the guy who was showing them whipped out his knife and it was a Mini Ambush. He had a problem, sent it to Benchmade, they fixed it and gave him a new Mini Ambush, so he got two in return. It was the heaviest between the Delica, Mini Grip and Mini Ambush, but when I went on line and saw you could have one for like $32, well, I got me a Persistence because I could get into the Sypderco line, learn knives and always upgrade. I know the Persistence will not be the lightest, and it will have the lower grade steel, but for general office and home use, heck, $25 shipped for the Persistence was a deal and had to get it. Now, I have been lusting the Mini Grip but the cheapest I find is like $62 and well, the Mini Ambush is coming in half of that. I can tell you the Mini Grip felt the best in the hand, and was lightest, or maybe Delica was, but I loved how the Mini Grip with the thumbhole opened. The Ambush was a bit clunkier, and the locking system looked a bit different, but it was still easy to open, over a kershaw (the Sypderco hole makes it really easy for me), and it has that locking system so this is catching my eye if I can get a price on one, or I find a cheaper Grip. Benchmade will still fix it right? and if truly discontinued, they would find me a comprable model when I had to return it?

Read some more. What is the difference between the rolling lock and the Axis lock on the Mini Grip?
