Hey, all you Benchmade fans, there are a few of the 250 Mini-Barrage assisted Axis locks up for sale. I think they look great and should function just as well. KnifeCenter has a few up for sale now. There were only 250 of these made and were sold only at 2010 SHOT Show.

The mini barrage has been out for a while now--the one you have pictured is one of the g10-handled prototypes. Really makes the knife come alive. ;)

It's not a prototype. This knife is SHOT Show Special LE. 250 were made in uncoated PE and another 250 in coated CE. They've been out for few weeks now.

Mini Barrage is a wonderful knife... I have one with the regular handles (whatever they're made of?) and I really love this knife. I had the full size Barrage for a few days but for some reason, it just didn't sing to me...but the mini version really does.

Why don't they do a nice CF run? The handle could probably lend itself to a rather interesting Twill.

Hmm--well that's nifty then! Consider me corrected, good sir. I do know that the prototypes were G10-handled though--I held them last year at SHOT and thought it was a shame that they WEREN'T doing them in G10. :p

Yeap! I like the Mini Barrage, but already have one. I would buy another one if they make it with another steel. G10 and S30V would be sweet.

I just picked up one of the 585-1 models, #143/250, and since the stock 585 is my very favorite sub 3" knife this one with G-10 scales makes the knife what it truly should have been all along.

Nothing really wrong with the Valox scales, but the G-10 makes the knife shine, and the added benefit is not only the look and feel, but the added grippiness from the textured scales.

Rx is correct in what he said above, and FYI the prototype of the 580, the larger version, did come out in G-10 and was switched to the Valox in the full production run. I don't know if the 585 prototype came in G-10 or not.

Here's photos of the 585 Valox on top and the 585-1 G-10 below:

And while I'm at it, here's photos of the larger 580 in Valox and the prototype in G-10:

BTW - last time I checked, the KnifeWorks had the 585-1's in stock...!
