I love my 585. It is a perfect size to carry anywhere and is of high quality materials and construction...in my opinion.
I agree with those that do not love the "plastic" sounding scales...but they do the job...for the price of the knife G10 scales would be much, much better.
I also have a ZT350 and generally carry both...no reason other than I like both of them...the 585 is invisible...the 350 is always a presence.
They are also very different knives and should not be compared other than good quality and craftsmanship.
Kai Winters,thank you.
Like I said I like Kershaw/ZT and have two Scallions,a ZT 200,400 and a 560,but I couldn't pass up the 585 for $90.00. With the locking system it might replace my scallion for deep pocket carry. I will always carry the 560 clipped to the pocket.
If you don't mind me asking, where abouts in Northern NY are you?
The 585 was one of the first 'nice' knives that I bought. It gets such little pocket time now. I love the assisted axis function but the cheap feeling handles, thickness and lack of tip down carry options.
I have a 585 with S30V steel and while I like the knife the handle kinda kills it for me. The assisted opening is fun and it is my only assisted but it gets little pocket time anymore. I just don't like the feel of the handle and the edges on the handle are just not as finished as I'd like them to be, a smoother feel would be wonderful. It also tends to be rather wide in the pocket, more-so than most of my other knives.
