Just got this little guy last night and wanted to post a few pics. I was very turned off at first, but realized it was because I'd been carrying much larger knives. I then remembered my love of the Mini Griptilian and put the little storm trooper in my pocket. It's a great little knife. I can get a four finger grip on it and it opens and closes great. I imagine that with a set of aftermarket G10 or titanium scales this knife will be the shizzle. :)

I actually bought the white handled model with plans to RIT dye them. I've not chosen a color yet. I'll get back to you on that. ;)

I took some pics outdoors today with one of my most used knives (The Native 5 from Spyderco).

Enjoy...

Thanks for the great write, friend. Good to see you again. How is the slicing, some BM knives are a bit wedge on the grinds?

Ah man, good to see you too my friend. It's been a while for sure. I will always be a Spyderco guy, but I have a few BM's too that I love. The Bugout and Mini Bugout are thin and very slicey. I have a Mini Crooked River, and a 940 and they are examples of being not so slicey. :)

How you doing? You still doing any modding? I always liked your pics and posts.

I'm sure you know that this is David Lowry and I just had my forum name changed.

I have the same Mini Bugout arriving Monday from DLT Trading! I can’t wait to get it in hand.

I’ll probably rock the white scales until they get a little grungy then die them dark purple or dark bronze...

I thought you were David Lowry, but then after I posted "what if it isn't " .
Good luck on the Rit.
Yes, I will be molding till the old hands stop working.

Finished product...

I put 1 cup vinegar into the water in the pan, along with a teaspoon of dish soap (like the instructions say). I brought that up to a boil and then turned it down. Once it was no longer boiling, I put the dye in and stirred it up. After that I put the scales in for about 7 minutes.

I bend up a coat hanger and put the scales on that and hold the coat hanger with Vise Grips. I took it out frequently to check the color. I should have only left it in for 5 minutes to make it a tad lighter. ;)
