This post is to help show how I maintenanced a benchmade mini griptilian knife.
I aquired a used but good condition benchmade mini griptilian recently, this is my first mini griptilian and I was quite surprised how small it was, and I thought I would share me disassembling, cleaning, and sharpening my new benchmade knife.
Here's my list of items I used:
-Victorinox knife oil
-T10 bit for pivot and T6 bit for all other screws on the knife
-Rubbing alcohol 91% for cleaning
-Glock parts tray bin to keep things organized
-Microfiber cleaning cloth
-Spyderco doublestuff sharpening stone
-Homemade walnut leather strap
-Beavercraft sharpening compound
-222 Purple Loctite for the pivot
I started by removing the pivot screw and taking the blade and washers out.
Then proceeded to remove the handle screws and pocket clip screws.
After I disassembled the knife I wiped everything down with a Microfiber cloth soaked with rubbing alcohol.
The blade has an few rolls towards the tip.
I then started reassembling the knife and oiled it with some victorinox knife oil.
once I finished assembling the knife I started sharpening on my spyderco doublestuff.
Then finished with a walnut leather strap I made with some beavercraft sharpening compound.
As you can see it cuts very nice now.
My first Benchmade was a 550 154cm griptilian that I've had for 6 years, really looks so much bigger than the mini.
I recently had to send in my first knife for a broken omega spring.
Here's my new mini grip next to my current EDC that I also bought and repaired recently after repairing I added new AWT archon scales, they are a game changer for a benchmade,it's a benchmade 551S 154cm griptilian with cobalt blue cerekoted archon scales.
Hope this helps as a guide.
