I was wondering if there are any opinions about this partcular matchup. The dimensions of these two knives seem very similar (on paper at least). Is the Mini Griptilian any thinner than the 705? Any significant difference between the 705 and the drop point Mini Griptilian aside from different materials?

OPENING HOLE VS. THUMBSTUD, THAT'S ABOUT THE ONLY THING YOU HAVEN'T MENTIONED.

BOTH KNIVES WILL SERVE YOU WELL.

Actually, the Benchmade 556 has thumbstuds and not an opening hole. It really seems like a less expensive alternative for the 705.

Well.. the 705 will feel a little beefier in the hand with the full liners and g-10 and probably withstand more. But both are tough. Go to the for sale forums if you want a good deal on 705. I believe the professor has some.

It's all about aesthetics after that. Which blade shape you like better or which feels better in the hand to you.

Don't forget the blade steel. I believe the mini-grip is 440c and the 705 is 154CM. Both are great IMO.

Oh, I've been lurking for a while, and this is my first post. Hello everybody!:D
