Hi Everyone,

What does the II stand for on this model? Did Benchmade update anything from the 903 model other than the drop point to the tanto version? Maybe a better G 10 handle or blade steel?

Thanks

Although I'm not sure, I will give you my understanding... I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the "II" refers to the second version of the larger Stryker 908 vs the older Stryker 905. The 905' s handle was the shape of the auto version that is still available today. It was also a liner lock. I believe it was also G10. The mini is the mini of the second Stryker version (908; Stryker II).

The 910 and 905 (Mini) were the first Stryker versions. First in ATS-34 steel (Hitachi). Later in the American steel version 154CM (Crucible). Up to this point the blades used a thumb disc opener. The second generation Strykers were in D2 steel and were assisted openers using the same spring system as the Torrent. Also the thumb disc was replaced with thumb studs. Up until now, the liners were all titanium. The third generation were Axis locks with both tanto and spear point options in 154CM steel. I don't want to leave out that there is a Stryker Auto series with aluminum handles in place of G-10. The first models had ATS-34 then 154CM blades (9100 and 9500 mini). Also spear point versions (9130 and 9530 mini). The latest Auto Strykers are the 9101 and 9501. basically the same as the original but with larger push buttons. Thru out the Stryker generations there were options of satin finishes, serrations and coated blades. Blade options varied on year and models.

I'm old school Benchmade.:)

I feel like I just went through a "Benchmade Stryker History 101" class after I read your post. Very interesting, though!
