Hello All..

JUst boght another Kershaw Groove for 27 bucks..its number 3..love that knife..so anyway i am thinking about buying the Yellow Plain Edge Mini_Grip..i hear its a good knife...what what makes it such a awesom little knife..and how tough is this axis lock?

The blade shape and steel are good, good grind, the axis lock is great. However, I don't like the Mini-Grips that well overall. The handles feel cheap, and I don't find them very comfortable. I'd suggest handling one before buying one, but if you don't mind the handle (and it is admittedly a well made, light, solid handle), the knife itself is great.

Maybe the BM707. It's a bit more, but to me it seems pretty much like a mini-Grip with aluminum handles.

I'm a short guy and have always thought my hands were smaller, but I find the Mini-Grips too small, and the regular ones too fat.

My Spyderco Delica 4 fits my hand perfectly and is nice and flat in the pocket, although my favorite is my yellow serrated Pacific Salt which is made of H1 and cannot rust. Give Spyderco's Salt series a look.

The Mini-grip handles don't feel as cheap as they do on the large Grip- they bother me on my full-size,but don't on the Mini.

What makes it my favorite EDC is: Great bang for the buck, really good blade to handle ratio, the Axis lock is as solid (if not more so) as any lock out there, but way more fun than most- making for very fast opening and closing, easy to sharpen and holds an edge well, fits my hand (medium) and my pocket well. It's just a really good design as proven by it's popularity.

If you are thinking of the aluminum handle just remember that aluminum shows scratches- my 3 year old looks like new except for signs of use on the blade.

I have a yellow mini and it's a great knife if you don't need a bigger one every day. The axis lock is not only great in function but fun as well. It's second only to my Para D2. I picked one up at a great price at www.knifeworks.com

I carry the BM Grip plain edge daily. I also think the plastic handles are a little cheap feeling, but as a user, it never stays home. I have a good collection of knives, but always take that one out to play, along with slipjoints as well.

So where is the best place to buy a MINI-Grip and do u suggest a plain or combo edge and why?

The plain edge is a better choice for me because the blade is too short to be practical with combo edge, kind of worst of two worlds. All serrated is not made in the Mini Grip, so plain edge it is. I really like mine, which is a Ritter, but the regular drop point is a much better deal at half the price. The handle is short, but very good ergos anyhow.

My Mini Grip alternates with a Delica 4 as my locking EDC. They are both very good tools and worthy of their popularity. I like the FRN handles for their low weight and high utility.

Knifeworks is good.

I was going to post basically the same respose.

If cost is not a huge factor, look at the Ritter blade design. IMO it's better than the BM drop point, but you will also have to pay MSRP.

The Mini-grip handles don't feel as cheap as they do on the large Grip- they bother me on my full-size,but don't on the Mini.

Wonder who was first to say the Griptillian handles feel cheap? I have a full size Ritter Grip and they seem fine to me; got the orange; think it is a great knife overall!

I really like the mini-grip, it's my most common edc. I agree that the handles on the mini don't feel cheap to me, but they do on the full size model. To me it's a great little knife at an affordable price.

I've got a ritter mini grip and I carry it more than any other blade I own. I don't think the handles feel cheap. They're made of plastic what do you expect them to feel like?? Axis lock is rock solid. I'd definitely recommend picking one up.

I carried a Mini Grip everyday for probably almost three years.
I have big hands but after using it for a while, I got use to it and never thought about it again.. I thought about getting a full size Grip, but really didn't like the way it felt.
The handles did feel a little cheap at first but that to faded away.

As far as being strong, I never had an issue with the lock. I like the way it is designed, IMO its one of the stronger locks on the market.

All in all for the money, its a great knife. If I ever went back to carrying something other than slip joints, I would pick up another one.

Do u think the mini-grip would be better received if the handle was bigger and had G-10 scales?

I think the mini would be very popular if it was between the mini and full size in size... The g-10 would be a nice touch, although it would probably increase the overall cost some
