Hi guys. I recently traded my Microtech Zombietech plus a couple of my custom carbonfiber pocket clips for a mint Model 42. This one has the older 440c blade steel.
I'm not much of a balisong guy but this infamous blade is really cool, and I've always wanted one. Is the 440c version pretty rare? How many of you guys own one of these?
I eventually end up selling any knife I don't carry and use (I live in CA :grumpy:) but I'm going to try and hang on to this one.

Balisongs are illegal to carry in Calipornia, but learn some flipping moves and I'm sure you'll be quite happy with it. The 42 is THE best bali for flipping, only rivaled by the Benchmade 51. Enjoy your knife!

I have a T latch 42 in 440c and a spring latch version in 154cm both in like new condition. Definitely my favorite and the nicest knives in my balisong collection.

I do own a 51 as well and while I like it, I am not sure I would consider it a rival to the 4x series. Also while I don't own either, there are definitely arguments that the alpha beast or arc angel could be considered the best production flippers.

Great knife though, hang on to it... I don't see the value going down anytime soon.

Yes I have a 51 as well. I'm not a pro at flipping, but I can do the classic tricks pretty easily as well as single ariels.

A beautiful knife IMO.

I do not own one yet but just prefer the look of the older channel construction handled BM balisongs without all of the fasteners involved in sandwich construction BM bali handles, and their current competitors. Just a lot cleaner look to me in the older BM and PCC balis along with current and past Filipino Hand Made channel handle construction versions. Smooth lines and elegance that are lacking from the current USA made production knives.
