I recently inherited a collection of knives and am trying to figure out BenchMade model information. For example I have two knives that look identical to me - but one is 705SBT-04 and the other one is 705BT-04. What does the S mean? Sorry very new at this. Any guidance would be appreciated.

705 is usually McHenry Williams, great knife. I’d hold on both of those…
OP, would be nice if you can post pictures of that collection… ?

The 705 is/was a very under-rated knife, and mine still sees some pocket time after all these years.

The handle is a bit on the wide and blocky side, but the blade is a great profile and suitably thin making for a really nice slicey cutter.

Thank you everyone! That's what it was. Something I can add to my small bank of knife knowledge.

Never had one but handled few for some friends…
love it, it’s really big model in Russia,
other than it is a classic Benchmade…

That's funny because I noticed that when trying to research them. Lots of info on them on Russia pages but I don't speak Russian so didn't do me any good. When I figure how to take pictures I will post some. Benchmade and Lone Wolf appeared to be my Fathers favorites. Honest it seems like he did some kind of knife of the month club because he seemed to get 1 or 2 every month.

OK, One more question for the night - if they are numbered, 113/250 does that actually mean there are only 250 of that particular knife?

OK, now that is interesting. I was not aware of Benchmade doing any kind of special or sprint runs of the 705. You may have something special. Yes, that would indicate a run of 250 pieces.

Can you post pics? You will need a pic-hosting site. Imgur is good and free. Upload your pics there. select your pic, select the link for "message boards and forums" and post that link here.

UPDATE - I know what you have. BM did do a limited run of 250 pcs in D2 steel (vs. the standard 154CM). Congrats, you have a great knife (or 2)!

Perfect - yes, you have a great set of limited run 705's. They appear to be unused.

While you are not allowed to ask value based on your standard membership, suffice it to say these are worth more than what they sold for when new. Keep the original boxes and paperwork should you ever decide to sell them. Many people would want the boxes if they were to buy them.

If I upgrade I could ask value? I have had these knives for years now because I just don’t know value and nervous to do anything with them. I know my Dad would kill me if I didn’t do my due diligence.

Oh yeah I know that but I had listed a couple on eBay and they went in like 2 minutes and that just made me nervous that I had them priced way too low. I believe one of the knives In the picture here I saw listed on eBay for $750 but that seemed high to me. I’m not trying to be greedy but got the lecture when I was younger to make sure I pay attention.
