Make no mistake about it I am a huge fan of Elishewitz designed knives. After alot of deliberation I now have 2 of Benchmades' Ares knives headed my way. I even got a lucky break and was able to get one of the carbon fiber handled 730's (the last one they had). It will replace the model 690 CF prototype that I am carrying currently.
Any other fans of the Benchmade Ares out there? I would like to hear what other owners have to say about this knife. Incidentally, the other knife is the green/black 735 plain blade. I may consider switching out the blades at some point but will wait and see how the BC coating wears.

Looks pretty good... don't mind to have one if I do have the cash

This is my EDC I've carried one now for 3 years, it is without a doubt the smoothest opening most solidly locked, folder I own.
Not to mention the axis lock. Here's a picture of it taken apart, just so you can see without taking yours apart.

IMHO, you made a good choice. I think the 730 series is one of the best in the BM lineup. It's a great "do everything" knife. It apparently has been a top seller for BM, as well, since it has come out in so many different varieties.

Good luck with the Ares and welcome to the Forums.
:)

The 730cfhs is currently my favorite production folder along with my Sebenza. Smooth, solid and a real workhorse. Just a good all around folder.

The Ares is a great knife. My pair are the CF and the 735. I swapped the blades so they are a 730CF, and a 735HS. The 730 is the perfect size for a sport/utility knife, I believe. Big enough for about any cutting chore, but not big enough to scare sheeple out of the room. My formula for the perfect size is a handle that is just big enough for a full grip, then the biggest blade that will fit in the handle. The blade is a perfect utility shape and works great for anthing from hunting chores to fighting to spreading peanut butter and jam.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments and the photos.

Steve, I plan on doing the same thing you did with the blade swap. Do I have to disassemble the whole knife or can I just remove the pivot screw to replace the blade?

Have to jump in and second what everyone else is saying. I love my 732 (all black g10 and bt coated blade). First true tactical folder I ever purchaced. Though I have others now, I still make room in my rotation for it. It just looks right for a knife.
Definitely a great series produced by Benchmade!:)
