Hi all. New knife nut here wanting to know if anyone has an opinon on this "red" class benchmade. Seems that it should be a great EDC for the price,
and N690 blade would appear on par with VG-10 if not identical. From what I have seen it's a bargain at under $40. Only minus is that it's not made in USA.

I love mine. It is thin. Lovely blade geometry, nice hard steel, extremely strong framelock with statinless steel construction of the frame.

Any downsides? Not really, it's one of my favorites.

Jeff...thanks for pointing me to that thread..i had some trouble finding info on the knife. That is a great review.

Made from N690 steel, said to be close to VG-10. I believe it's either Swedish or Austrian.

I think the Taiwanese make great stuff with fantastic Q.C.

I totally agree with you on the quality of Taiwanese cutlery. I have a CRKT Wasp that is put together extremely well. Lots of attention to detail.

I love benchmade knives and wouldn't think they would allow quality to lower, considering their standards. As for the N690 vs. VG-10. VG-10 would dominate. Check the link here and scroll down a bit. They compare it too 440C.

Still a great knife for the price

Im at my school right now (college) and my benchmade monochrome is clipped to my pocket lest I should have to defend myself. Its a great knife for any-one and for all purposes. It is my faithful companion.
By the way, hi, im new.
