10300. Red Class. Taiwan. N690. 3 Inches. Stainless Handle. Benchmade.

Ok, has anyone had any good experience with this knife?
Any reviews? Hows the N690?
How does the black finish hold up?(for those of you with this version)

in my opinion , it would be a cleaner looking knife ( and more than likely feel better in the hand ) if the screws on the non lock side were counter sunk.

Screw heads that stick up above the surface of the handle feel like crap against the skin after you use it for awhile.

I have one. It is pretty good. The frame lock is a little loose on mine. But BM will fix it for free. The still actuly surprized me, so far it has help an edge very well, and i have done alot of cutting with it. As John T said it would look better with counter sunk screws, but it is a red class knife. But over all for the pirce, I think it is great.

It's been reviewed a few times here before. I have one. I really like the N690 alloy. It takes a fine edge and holds it pretty well. I like how compactly the Monochrome fits in my pocket considering its blade length. I link the blade shape. All-in-all I think it offers good value.

I have a silver one. For the money is is a great knife. I would like to see more knives use N690 steel. This knife made me rethink frame locks now my preferred lock when done right. Smooth & strong.

I have one and love it. It takes a great edge, the action is smooth, and the lock-up is rock solid. I carry it often:)

I can't comment on the durability of the coating. IMO the bead-blasted version looks a bit cheap.
Very strong lock-up, and the action is exceptionally smooth for a knife in this price range. Mine came very sharp out of the box, and I've grown quite fond of N690 because of its good edge-holding capabilities and ease of resharpening.

If you like sturdy framelocks, buy it.

I have a Monochrome. It is one of my favorite blades for EDC.

As Jeff Clark said, the N690 takes a very fine edge and holds it really well. I also agree that it carries very flat in the pocket. The blade shape is makes it a great slicer because of the high grind. To my mind it is one of the best values in knives under $40. Can't comment on the black finish as mine does not have it.

My full review of the knife and the steel is here:
