benchmade morpho

I would think not since there are no slots (torx, phillips, flat head, etc.) that would indicate that the pins holding the clip can be remove and reinserted to hold the handle in place.

From a separate thread a while back

You cannot use the knife with out the clip.

The clip is made such that instead of having screws that go through the clip and into the knife, the clip has, for lack of a better term, small steel cylinders jammed into it with threaded holes for screws to go into. The screws come from the other side of the handle and screw into these steel cylinders. The steel cylinders are stamped into the clip and are not removable.

Also, the 2 steel cylinders that are permanently attached to the clip slide into and through the titanium liners, the steel back spacer, and the spring latch. They act as the main support pins for the the liners and the spring latch.

Without the clip and its steel cylinders/pins, the G10 scales, titanium liners, the back spacer, spring latch, and another small stop pin for the spring latch, these will all fall out and that end of the handle will be flopping around.

When I removed the clip, it took a little bit of analysis to realize all of this. I then began to slowly bend the clip. It is very, very hard to do by hand. I really was being extremely gentle. I made about 8 slight adjustments, but it still was too far off of the handle. So, I then tried something more drastic. I got out the needle nose pliers, taped their ends with duct tape so as not to mar the finish of the clip, and began bending. SNAP! - no more clip.

I called Benchmade, and they will send me a new clip. However, I am not sure they understood my detailed explanation (like the one above). Well, we will see. Worst case scenario - I mail it back to them for repairs.

Thanks for your replies.

Sounds like its removable for cleaning, fixing, maintenance, bending....but not for flipping/using

I bought a used Morpho that came with the clip removed.

The previous owner had simply shortened the female part of the fasteners a bit (I assume by sanding or stoning).

If you have problems removing the female parts from the clip, twist them a few times to loosen the fit.

Take it apart and see. It has been done before.

If all else fails, I believe the size of the fasteners is the same as the 1/8" pivot groups you can get at most "knifekits" places.
