So I just got a Rif and once I tweaked the pivot screw thee blade action. Is smooth with no L/R blade play.

Today I picked up a 810 Contego. In order to get the blade to operate smoothly, I have to back the pivot screw out to the point wwhere I get L/R blade play. This normal??? My blade isn't centered either. Is a trip back to the mother ship in order?

Any feedback is apreciated.

Thanks-

The Axis lock and pivot on new knives take a bit to loosen up. If the off center blade bothers you, you could send it in. The function of the knife doesn't change as long as it's not hitting the liners.

It. Is rubbing the liner on one side. Barely, but its there. That tip gets so wide on that blade there isn't much. Margin for errorr on centering.

By loosening the pivot you will get more blade play and a greater chance of it hitting the liners.
I'd suggest tightening the pivot back up and give it some time to smooth out.
If it touches the liner with the pivot tightened... Send it in.

My 810 has no blade play in any direction, and good action. Smooth. But, the blade tip is not centered. I cannot tell if it is actually the blade is not centered, or if the tip is misground a bit. Because the blade looks like it is centered further back toward the pivot. In any case, it doesn't rub, and isn't loose, so I'm living with it as is. I plan to use it mercilessly anyway.

Try loosening the stop pin screw, it can play a huge role in the smoothness.

I did but then. I get a bunch of L/R blade play. No go. I messed with that pin allday turning it a "hair" @ a time. Can't get it to. Move smooth w/o blade play
