Please help me decide. Intended use is both self defense and cutting tasks.
Thanks in advance.

The Fallkniven will be a little grippier. I prefer its VG-10 to just about anything.

The Benchmade can be had in M2, which is nice, but I do prefer the VG-10.

I bet you're in the same position as most of us: you have (some) Benchmade(s) but no Fallkniven(s). I'd go for the latter. Be sure to get one with the sheath you want; there are options.

I would go with the Fallkniven. I have had both and still have the Fallkniven S1 (among others).

I think you get a great value for your money with them and they really hold up to some abuse with the convex edge. Plus no blade coating which is a plus in my book.

I think the S1 can be had in a Kydex sheath, leather open top and Nylon/cordura. I prefer the design of the leather but wish it wasn't brown, this knife needs a black sheath. SO wehn I kicked myself for selling my S1/leather I replaced it with an S1/cordura. YMMV

For once I would say go with the BM if you can get the M2 model! Otherwise the VG-10 S1 is an amazing knife. I prefer the G10 and M2 of the Nimravious, but he thats just my opinion YMMV!:)

I have the S1 and I like it, and I use it. The kydex sheath is the way to go. I like the Falkniven's in general, and I also have the F1 and A1. I don't have a Nimravus though, so I can't say which is better.

Hey Horus....

you've picked two Great knives....

However..

You've picked two completely different Beasties...

The Fallkniven is a heavy duty outdoors knives, which will do Anything you want it to, however it's not big on being a fighter..

The Nimravus is a good all around every day type of knife that isn't suited for heavy outdoors type work....

As far as looking for a knife for self defence,, the Fallkniven will definately do the job for you,, just not as well as the Nim will...

The Nimravus would be a better choice for self defence..It's light quick and thin enough for slicing and defence type duties...

However if you plan on carrying the Nim concealed the sheath isn't well suited for this type of carry...The sheath is Definately the weakest part of the Nimravus....

ttyle

Eric...

I like the style and the M2 blade of the Benchmade, but I do not like the shape of the handle. The handle has some semi sharp corners that need to be rounded off, IMHO. I much prefer the VG10 blade of the Fallkniven, but would prefer a flat ground blade and would also like a G10 handle. Oh well, I guess we cant have everything!

Depending on intended use and environment, a usually at least ;)
I would go with S1 for any kind of outdoors use and probable abuse.
I would go with Nimravus for urban concealed carry taking into consideration also self defense.
