Let me say something:
Sporadic camping trips happen. Thats what happened to me last week. While on a road trip woth soem friends of mine we decided out of the blue to rough in and go camping in Louisiana.

As always I have my EDC mini CQC-7b on me, but luckily I also brought my Benchmade 140 SBT Nimravus. I always like having a fixed blade with me camping, and this was the Bm's first run on a trip. From opening cans, gutting shrimp, cracking crabs, cutting anything, opening anything, it was a dream. It is a great fixed blade and the finger groove at the fron is great to prevent slipping even when hands are soaked in whatever you can throw at them.
The one thid I do wish it had was a leather sheath, and now I might look into getting one. Not that the kydex was bad or didnt work..I guess I'd just like some leather for it.

Had to throw in my .02

OH, by the way, it's not that my Emerson didn't work, it's just that it follows me everywhere, so I like to keep it as clean as possible and use something else when it comes down to the nitty-gritty and there are other options available.

Thanks for the post. A 140 BT Nimravus has been on my list for awhile and just joined the collection today. Ever since I saw it last year, it was a must have. It's a great web gear knife which is kind of how I look at my fixed blades. While I haven't given it a workout yet, I love the Nimravus obvious qualities: compact, LIGHT, razor sharp, corrosion resistant, good utility blade shape with a secondary defensive capability. I had to search around on the net to get the new Kydex/Santoprene sheath a(New Graham has the new ones) but it was worth it. As has been said, it's an awesome sheath to be sure with a secure lock-in. The whole set up weighs in a mere 8.9 oz. Gotta love the 154 CM too. Couple of critiques: the G10 handle should be textured better, it's kinda' slick and quick attach method for the sheath should be supplied (you can buy the BM clip for it). Good luck with the leather sheath.

A couple options for that slick handle:
1. beadblast the scales to give an overall rougher texture
2. take it to a gunsmith and have them checker the handle where you need more grip

If you are a tool junkie as well as a knife knut, you could buy a Brownell's checkering file and do the checkering yourself. There is a tutorial of sorts on using checkering files here: http://www.gswagner.com/6.5matchrifle/6.5matchrifle4.html

But be forewarned, those files aren't cheap. That's why I suggest going to a gunsmith, who will have the checkering tools already on hand.
