Hi im new to blade forums and im thinking about getting a new knife, im looking at the Benchmade Nitrous Stryker, Tanto Partial Serration i found a site i could get it for $95, much cheaper than Benchmade retail 50$ less, my question is how well build is the knife does anyone own one, and is it a good edc ? or should i get another knife for the money ?

while i have never had a nitrous stryker i have had around a dozen std strykers, all have had excellent F&F, & for a tanto are pretty good edc's.

if ya like it ya could do much worse imho.

i have just moved on to other stuff now, one of my buds has edc'd a chisel grind stryker for ~ 3 yrs now, and he's in construction and is HARD on knives, its holding up just fine FWIW.

I am presently carring a 907D2 Nitrous Stryker. The one I have has good fit and finish, the edge grinds are even and it was very sharp right out of the box. There is no back spacer, instead they used the barrel spacers. The Nitrous system opens the knife very quickly and it locks in place very securely. Hanldle length is right at 4 1/4 in. so I have just a little bit of handle extending on each side of my hand when holding the knife. I did find that there was a little learning curve to get the knife to open with ease but that did not take long to learn.

In the AO world, Benchmade makes some good ones. I've a 913D2 and 907D2, both of these in drop point, and really like 'em. Neither have any play, came out of the box sharp, and with use have worked in nicely. BM's D2 steel is very good stuff and holds up well under daily use. Recommended!

It's built very well; I just wish they'd stuck with the thumb disk rather than switching to studs.
Nice simple mechanism though. Easy to take apart(AND get back together), and it opens with a nice "twack!!!"

Benchmade makes very good quality knives, and they back their knives up on the warranty end. I've never owned a Stryker, but have several other models and they are all very good knives for the $$. Just an FYI- there are a lot of cheap copies of the 910 Stryker floating around on E**y, there is at least one being bid on right now; Don't know if there are any fakes of the Nitrous Strykers, but would not be suprised. Buy from a trusted source, lots of good knives sell through this forum.

Mine has some side to side blade play. I loved it at first, but the play has made me put it in my drawer. i think i'm gonna send it back to BM

Try tweaking the pivot tension first.
That usually works; if it doesn't, then back to BM for sure.

I would check the pivot screw like stabman suggested. You might be surprised what a difference a half a turn can make.
