Benchmade: No longer available from stores?

I was trying to find more information on this, but to no avail. I understand that they are no longer going to sell their knives to distributors that sell their knives online because of the prices that they are being sold for. Is that to mean that they are only going to be available for their MSRP? Or maybe this whole thing is a rumor? If this is true, I don't see myself buying any more Benchmade knives. I have a few of them, and I like them a lot, but don't see myself paying their MSRP for any of them. There are just too many other companies that want my money..

If you do a little searching there are several threads on this.

Personally, I find the pricing policy annoying and plain silly. That and a decline in BM's quality control over the last year have kind of put me off to buying more...which is a shame since I really wanted to love BM.

If you want to sell Benchmade items, you MUST have a physical store with an address. You cannot just sell knives online or be an "E-tailer".

I can relate, BUT the pricing policy in my mind is to preserve the value of the knives and allow sellers to actually make some money and prevent low ball sales on ebay and places similar. Surefire does the same thing, they have adopted the MAP thing too.
In theory, since BM is going to discontinue overseas productions, this should increase the "quality" (subjective term) overall.
