Benchmade NRA problem

I recently got a BM NRA 12200, nice little knife (2nd actually, 1st one was defective). When the knife is closed, there is something rattling inside of the knife, I believe its in the pivot point area. (sorry, I'm unsure of the correct terminology) It doesn't rattle when its open. I've tried tightening the pivot screw further, but it does not help. There is also "play" in the screw, where there is about a half a turn or so where the screw is loose, and doesn't tighten or loosen. What can I do? Is this another defective knife? Thanks in advance.

sounds pretty defective to me. Cant tell you for sure what the problem is but something iss lose and not functioning correctly

It's hard for me to tell what the problem is, with the knife together. I'm also not too experienced with knives, so I have no idea what it could be.

My mini-grip rattles when closed. I've been informed that it is normal. Apparently all axis lock knives have this rattle. They don't rattle when open, however.

I'm shaking my 710 right now and it doesn't make a sound. I'm certain my grip doesn't rattle either.

I can see how there might be a faint rattle if one omega spring was looser than the other - which wouldn't be a big problem, I guess.

It is normal, in some, but unacceptable to me, regardless.

It can be solved by peening the ends of the blade stop pin(easiest) or by closing the hole, using a bearing(very hard to do right). If you are completely frikkin lazy, or uncoordinated, you can splash the sides of the stop pin with crazy glue.

From my experience what you have is a slightly loose stop pin. It happens occasionally. What I've done to stop it in the past is to take one of the handle scales off and put on a small piece of electrical, duct, or masking tape over the outside of the liner where the hole is. The scale then tightens down just fine and you can go on without the rattly pin.

The two axis on me right now (Mini Presidio, Mini Grip) don't rattle when open or closed. Neither do my other ones. Grip, Rukus, Mini Rukus.

Might ask over at the Benchmade forum.

Hey, thanks for the responses. I believe it is a loose stop pin, since when I apply pressure to the handles in that area, it stops rattling. Thanks a lot everybody, I'll have to get the correct size torx wrench to fix this.
