hey there guys thanks to all ur feedback i have decide btw these two knives as the knife for me. however what do u pple think abt these. i kinda wanna get the Benchmade 705 McHenry & Williams against the Microtech UDT. but still i need advice...
how do these two knives compare in terms of :/-
its use,
its durablity,
its locking mechanism
and its usuage when my hands are wet

thanks pple
regards.

I would go with the Benchmade 705. Although it's small, it has one of the toughest locks on the market. You can't go wrong with the Axis lock. Also, the G-10 scales have a good feel and don't scuff up or scratch like anodised aluminium.

705 all the way. Great and strong little pocket folder, as as mentioned, it'll look better after two+ years of everyday carry. Unless of course you like scratched and marred aluminum, and there are those who do... ;).

I don't own either one, however, handled them. Microtech makes a great knife and their QC is very good.

Benchmade makes a great knife as well although I have heard of some QC problems, only heard all the ones I've handled have been great.

With that said, I'd get the Benchmade just because of the lock. The axis is very nice and smooth :D

I have both the 705 and UDT.

The 705 is my EDC and so far it had gone through a lot without a hitch. Sometimes it gets a little sticky when opening, but a run through warm water, a little oil and it's good as new. My only complain is it didn't come sharp, so practice your sharpening skills.

The UDT is a cute little knife, which i use in the office to cut some paper and minor stuff. Real sharp. The UDT2000 doesn't have inserts like the old UDT so it would be a little slippery in wet condition.

I have an old-style (with the inserts) M-UDT.

For the money, I wish I'd bought a BM705 instead.

I have had mulitiples of both and like both. As an EDC I would choose the 705 though. Even though I can legaly carry an auto. The BM feels a bit wider in the hands. The UDT has kind of a toy feel to it, even though it is built tough. Both locks are nice and secure. I prefer plunge locks to axis though. The real question is

Can you legally carry the UDT?
Do you like aluminum handles or G-10?
Do you like the Axis lock or a plunge lock?

Size is not much different between the 2, however the 705 feels a bit tougher. Now if you were picking between the L-UDT and the 705, I would definately with out a doubt pick the L-UDT. That is a tough friggin' knife.

I haven't played with the L-UDT (sounded too big), but I defintely agree the M-UDT feels like a "toy".

I bought it as a "gents folder auto", and I think it will be great at that. I've never actually even carried it, let alone used it though.
