damn

i know somebody owns one of these swat knives

im debating buying one

help me out

im used to the cheap knives and am shelling out lots of cash that i dont neccesarily have

thanks

If the most knife you are used to in a balisong is a Jaguar or a Bear/MGC, then the quality will blow you away, whether you choose BM or SWAT.

My big monkey hands are itching to fiddle with the larger SWATs, but I find the blade profile a little, well, hideous.

If, like me, you've got slightly larger than average hands, and you're worried about running out of handle on a BM, don't be. Plenty of room.

i was just mostly wondering about how they compare to the benchmades

also i still cant decide between the tanto and the 42 with the better steel

agh!!!! decisions

have you heard about any problems with them?
maybe that is why i havent seen any posts so far on here about them

:)

thank you

don't let the 440C cause indifference- they're both pretty much equally hard.

I've never actually handled a SWAT, but from my understanding they have no blade play, but do have a tendancy to pinch you. The larger size, I suppose, compromises concealability, if that's an issue with you.

I've been flipping benchmades for 9 months now and they haven't let me down once. You also have a greater choice of blade profile with them, and tons of people stock them. So personally, I'd go with a Benchmade.

The Tiger is a very nice bali, well made, very accurate machine work. They are extremely smooth in their operation and function well. IMHO, they are not as robust as the BM line with their solid cast ti handles and stainless pivot pin bushings/washers. If the knife is to be an EDC, I would opt for the BM. If it is to be for defensive purposes only and little , if any, cutting chores, then the Tiger is a good choice. From all indications, at this point in time since the other players haven't shown up yet, i.e., Monarch, Microtech, etc...the BM is the first choice of the folks who've had and really USED one.

I agree with Dawkind about the pragmatics of EDC (nice picture as always Dudley), and honestly think you'll be very happy with either piece. Get whatever gets your motor running now, and save for the other. :)

I haven't purchased a SWAT yet, but I like Benchmade so much that I have purchased 12 of their knives in the past year.

well i decided im not good with decisions and got both!!!!!

hehe

so i will tell yall what i think of the swat

i think it looks burly as hell

ENLIST TODAY!!!

SWAT Centurion=Good Knife
SWAT Tiger=soft handled flexy pincher with a great blade....for a filet knife! Too thin of a blade, handles are too light, and TOO SOFT!
Benchmade BM-42,43,47-? I hain't got no data on them.
But from my experience with the Tiger, get a Benchmade.

ok, as far as benchmades go, I suggest the 43. I flip quickly and anticipate such according speed- the 47 can't offer me that. Just reverse latch drop one and you'll know what I mean. GREAT utlility knife though, and still very cool.
But the 43.......mmph- VERY nice blade shape, good for fighting, and FAST.

the swat is waaaaaaaaaaay better...

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better

that is all

the benchmade is like a cleaned up collectors version of the cheap chinese bali's

i dunno

still there are good points to both

and i love the tantostyle blade

soi dunno

burly strong kinda loose bali vs HIGH HIGH quality stoner entertaining yet still strong enough bali (swat)

i like them both and will waste countless dollars on more forsure

While I wont ask what you are smoking. I heartally must disagree. I will preface this with the fact that I have been using balisongs for almost 15yrs. I also have both of the balisongs in question and for both EDC or SD I would much rather have a BM. For several reasons.

1) All of my production quality BM and Pacfic Balisongs. The stainless or titanium handled balis lock up tight in both the open and closed positions, This includes balis that have been run HARD for 10 yrs solid of Every Day Carry. Cutting, wire stripping, and light prying. The SWAT while seemingly somewhat solidly built int he handles has not yet stood up to this level of abuse. Addtionally I have my doubts about the thinness of the blade stock used in the swat. I have snapped blades off in targets.

2) ergonomics. the damn swat pinches me every time. I can not make the BMs to do so, Nor can I the taylors, parkers, frosts and FHMS I have.

3) I don't like the blade shape on the swat, if they had dropped the swedge a descent amount lower maybe I would, of Course I never like the utility blade shape on BMs either, always much preferred the weehawk.

4) The latch end on the swat is already beat up. On this supposedly indestructable alloy.

Now having said all this I will say that the swat is a good bali, in fact it is better than some of the older offerings such as any of the zamak handled balisong, no matter how made them. But better than the current or past production balisong line? I am not even going to go near the custom end, nor am I going to compare the swat with the yet unreleased tachyon or monarch, (yet I have both on order :D )

I am MAD!!!!!!!!!! Mad I tell you Mad

To each his own

all i know is i like my knives and i know what they are and i can make progress in my styles.

as to what i smoke...

also the benchmade is a cool knife, i just thought that the swat was WAY underated.

i am bleeding from about 9 different wounds from that benchmade...

so much blood.

maybe im just a bit biased :D

Sorry to be blunt but I just can't stand the way the Swat looks... :barf:

I wouldn't even consider buying a Swat lituarly just because of that reason. Even if thats a bad reason. Its still a reason.

Benchmade ALL the way!
