Got this rascal today, she be sharp for sure, the smaller slipjoint had a flat spot on the edge but was easily remedied, that smaller blade will be just the ticket to do the grunt work of cutting tape and opening boxes when I don't want to mess up the main blade
A couple of things about this knife;
Blade is S30V which is very keen at the get go! One minor pic about the knife is, when open you can't set the knife down on the table as the main edge hits the table before the guard area can, the other knives I have are able to do this which is a small point and nothing to prevent me from keeping it for sure...
The handle, now the blue is a refreshing change and sheeple friendly I would think, but to my hands it feels too smooth and I can see it slipping in my hands if my hands get wet...also the guard area, while the design looks sooo sweet, the contours of the handle seems to make the hand move back towards the rear of the handle, unlike the Osborn 941 has a nice forward area for your hand to move up and feel secure, my BM771 has a small nitch area where the thumbstud resides and is too small for any but the tiniest finger to fit, so my feeling is that it could have had a softer shape there for a more comfortable grip when cutting...you'd think I'd like Benchmade eh?
Sure do! they are doing a bang up job on the quality and edge geometry is excellent, push cutting is very easy now as opposed to how they were a few years ago! Kudos to Benchmade and as you can also tell, to Mr. Warren Osborne!
