I've heard a lot of great things about this knife, but I'd like to know if there are any negative points. The one point about it that I'm unsure of is the steel. I've never had D2, so not sure how it compares.

If anyone has one, please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

D2 is an awesome steel, its among the best and is listed by some as a 'super' steel.

Great knife design, great steel, but make sure you have some proper sharpening equipment because D2 is so hard. Diamonds work best, but any ultra-coarse stone should suffice.

I wouldn't consider the 960 a hard use knife though.

I will somewhat disagree on D2. If you don't let it get dull, something like a Sharpmaker is fine.

The 960 is a great pocketknife in the traditional sense of that word. It's slim and pretty refined. The Axis lock is easy to use and ambidextrous. The only possible negative is that some people find it a little small for comfortable grip. YMMV.

There are older 960's with 154CM blades and newer 960's made for Harley Davidson with S30V blades. Just something to consider ;)

there's no jimping; I didn't really find it an issue though.

when did they make the blue 960s? i had no idea they ever did.

Thanks for info, and the photos. I was already sold before I sent the message. Now completely. Benchmade knives rarely disappoint. Thanks again
