Finally got it last week. Luv it!! Probably gonna be my most treasured fixed-blade. Not gonna use it for any real hard chore at all.. it will be more like an "accessory" knife to wear as part of the outfit in camping or outdoor... while leaving all the dirty works done by the real hard-use ka-bar (to me a hard-use knife has to be something that I won't mind if it got scratched, got broken or got lost... only that I will use it care free. :))

Love the factory sheath too. didn't see the serious leather cut up problems as read from other posts. Mink-oiled and further water-proof treated it a bit and it's all ready to go! Can't wait to see it get more aged. Question to other owners - does anyone who has a factory sheath which has been well-used and aged, does it look good (aged vs. old, if u know what i mean.) and how does it hold up?? would like to know its mileage. Thanks a lot!

They are great knives, I field dressed 3 deer with mine last fall and it would still shave!! I liked it so well, I used it as a model for some customs I had made with slight variations.

I don't have an Outbound, but I keep looking at it.

No gimmicks, no ornamentation, no 'wonder steel' blade - but it's lines and eye appeal are elegant, in the tradition of Moran knives.

Get one gud4u, u won't regret it. The factory leather sheath just make the knife-sheath set up looks so classy. The shape of the knife has a custom feel for sure.... one great blade. Small size packed with a long and useful edge (3.75"), It just gives me a mental picture of a "fine knife", as in a "fine toaster" should be rounded on the corners and has a shiny, chrome finish that sort of thing. :) Just luv it.

I had an Outbounder briefly. I loved the design, but unfortunately found the handle to be a tad too small for my hands. Too bad, because otherwise I thought is was a great knife.

Hi Nathan,

I think that the short handle is somehow being designed on purpose. To me I believe that the designer wants to make a knife with a max blade length in a smallest size possible, so they actually "switched" that extra half inch of the total length or so from the handle to the blade. Another factor for this design could be that the designer wants to create a classic or "retro" feel of the knife, which things tend to be smaller in size in the past. Not sure if those are true, just my assumptions. :)

BM outbounder is my favorite fix-blade. Only everytime I put into sheath it cut sheath inside badly.(hope you gentlemen know what I mean)

but I still love it.

Mine doesn't cut up that bad. Seems like after it has been eaten up a small portion inside by the blade, it finally made the "right" positioning for the blade to rest inside. Mine got cut up a tad bit (near the top part) but the remaining leather is still very thick... I'd just considered that as a "break-in" process, then. Though it would be nice to see if Benchmade has made the new sheath a better fit now, wondering if the bad fitting would qualify me to get a replacement sheath?
