One of my major complaints, which regarded Benchmade's product line having shallow hollow saber grinds instead of flat saber grinds, was mistaken and unfounded.
When stripping BT2 off of my 806D2, I used a pine sanding block. I must have dished out the piece of wood by bearing down while sanding. A dished-out hone will touch the top and bottom of a flat surface making the same marks that a flat hone will make on a concave (hollow-ground) surface. At the start, and deeper into the progression of my 921 Switchback project (still in progress for next several months or years...), my coarse waterstone dished out again leaving the same scratch pattern one would expect to see when using a flat hone on a hollowed surface.
I apologize for not realizing this glaring pilot error and carrying on as though I were factually correct. Especially to LarryM and WadeF.
