Hello. I know it's been a while, but here I am. I did a quick search of the reviews on the park avenue, and I found nothing positive about it, so I'd like to mention how great I think this little gem is. I've carryed it and used it vigorously for about a week now, and I think I'm qualified to say a few words on this little sucker.
First of all. It is not for everyone. It is a small knife, and it is not ergonomic. It think those that did comment on it did not review the knife for what it is, a compact gent's knife.
The Pluses are many. I love the shape of the blade. Very well designed. There is a lot of blade for the size of the knife. It hits a little over 2.5" which is the SAME length as many, many bulkier models. Yeah, the width is thin, but it's to help reduce size. You don't even notice it's in your pocket. It came scary sharp out of the box and cuts very well. The blade has a thin geometry, which makes it an excellent cutter, but it gets wide enough so that it doesn't have any give.
And when I use it, this knife feels ROCK solid. This is the point that I cannot stress enough.
For such a tiny knife it feels much bigger and more solid than it is. and I mean SOLID. I credit this to the oversized linerlock and washers which weren't scaled down quite as much as the rest of the knife, making it ROCK solid. This is the first daily carry I've found in a while.
Cost? YES!!! it is a little pricey. BUT when you compare it to a similar pricey very high quality model, like the William Henry Evolution series, you find that that price is actually quite resonable. I own both (small WH spearpoint) and I choose to carry the Benchmade.
TWO minor points about this beauty I don't like (kind of like Cindy Crawford's mole)
1) The Ball detent makes opening more difficult than it needs to be, but you get used to it.
2) the CHAIN!!! For one, it's made out of aluminum. Not good. The chain should be just a tad longer. and the hook needs to be a tad bigger; the chain works POORLY on jeans, and not very well on many of the docker-style pants I wear. It definitely needs to be about 30% larger. I think I will remove it by the end of the week.
