Has the N690 steel (extrema ratio) has anyone tested or used or have an opinion on these? Seems like a heck of a buy! $20-25
Looks like fragile tip, but most benchmades are even if over $100.

not a very smooth knife. the kershaw storm/storm II or any ka-bar dozier variant is a better buy IMO. I just picked up a dozier spearpoint for 18 bucks as a beater/working knife.

There is a review here (although in 440c) with some nice photos included.

That was my mini-review of the Pikas. Since then I've given away the large one, and still have the mini. I only carried it for a few days, and now it sits in one of my range bags to be used for cutting cardboard and such for targets. I think the Dozier KABars are a far better deal, as the mini-pika is a bit too lightweight and hard to get a decent grip on. In retrospect.
:)

For the money they are incredible! Blow away anything in their price range. ($40 and under range IMHO)

my input: the knife is excellent for @20$. The actual tippity-tip-tip (<0.3mm) is very fragile and will usually break off the first week you have it, but after you sharpen it for the first time you won't even notice anymore. Other than that the entire tip is no more fragile than any other knife with a similar distal taper.

the pocket clip is excellent and the lock is very strong. The oval opening hole does not work very well since it is chamfered but with some practice it won't be an issue. Mine is in 440C and it is easy to sharpen and will get sharp as hell. my opinion is that it's no AFCK or Military but it is a good 20$ knife.

I had a Pika and a Mini-Pika and wasn't too impressed.

The handles didn't fit my hands very well, fit and finish were a notch under the quality of comparably offerings from Spyderco and Kabar.

If you want a great beater blade get a Kabar Dozier (I love the spearpoint but the others are fine too)

If you want a great bargain from Benchmade get a Monochrome!

+ great Ergos
+ good Steel N690
+ slim Package
+ Austrian Design from Armin Stütz/Steirereisen :D
- little on the hefty side
- no ambi Clip
