On a lot of reviews of the Pika II knife, I have heard bad stuff and some good. Anyway, I got a good deal on one and when I received it I wasn't expecting much. Well anyway, It finally came in the mail and when I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised of how nice it was. Blade was sharp as a razor and lockup was tight. No blade play at all and solid lock up. I love this knife. Its light enough to carry everyday and I like the way you can put the pocket clip any way you need it. It is my first Benchmade knife and I love it, so it wont be my last. Still love my Spyderco's though.

I bought a few Pika's in regular and Ti.

I thought they were built very well, and used quality materials. The 9C steel had IMO more potential than the more common, but still good 8C. It was underhardened and the wear resistance ended up being less than the lower priced 8C Spyderco Byrds.

They at least did ship sharp and aligned unlike the blue and black box benchmades built in the last few years that I bought.

Yeah my blade was centered perfect and everything. I really like this knife. I hate they are gonna stop making it. I think it was a very underated knife that just didnt get the love it deserved.

I've got one of the first production ones. It's a nice knife for the money my only concern is that the back spring tension is so unbelievably strong that makes the whole knife opening and closing a torture. Coupled with the jimping on the lock release and it kinda ruins the whole experience. Really I've got a couple of Byrds and their action is much better IMHO. The clip on the Pika is really nice, though. And it rides very well in the pocket.

I actually like the back spring on mine. I can flip it out easy and also like you Nifelheim, mine is the first production run. I got it for 17.00 from a retailer on the web. Cant beat it for the price.

I like mine. Most of the bad things I remember hearing were about the first version. IMO Benchmade did a good job of addressing those complaints with the second version. I especially appreciate the option for deep pocket carry.

here was my review:
