I am sending my Emerson CQC-8 off to Emerson to fix it and me grippy is at

benchmade for a different blade and right now I am using a Kershaw Blur. I

just purchased a new Presidio ultra for the heck of it and it will be here in a

day or two, but what I want to know is how are the handles? And how is

the 440C blade, is it a decent steel for a folder?

I have one... I think it is a really nice knife for the price. The 440c steel is heat treated VERY hard on mine... It is a great little slicer as well! The handles are nice and beefy... The Noryl GTX (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) is a fantastic material, and really suits the Presidio design quite well. I don't use mine that much, if at all... it sits in my manpurse waiting for the day when I forget my EDC. When I first got it, I carried it often, and it seems to me that it holds an edge pretty well, but is difficult to sharpen. I would prefer 440c to be a little softer, hold a decent edge, and be simple to sharpen. IMO Benchmade HTs S30V too hard as well. It holds a great edge, but is some of the most difficult S30V ive ever had to sharpen... I mean... I do enjoy touching up my knives... I just don't like it when it takes 25-30 minutes.

I had one for a short period of time & sold it. I didn't use/carry it, but they list the 440C at 58-60 RC, IIRC, which is what they do their S30V at, too.

It might not hold its edge quite as well as S30V or even the 154CM on the Emerson, but it should do very well & is very stain resistant compared to the other ones. The knife is light W/O being too light (Like BM's 530 which is under 2 oz.) & is comfortable. I believe the handle material's the same as what is used on the Grips & the 530 (Which I used quite a bit) & is quite durable. I thought it's the equal to FRN.

You should like the knife & it should do very well, especially since it's a true duel grind, unlike the Emerson you're waiting on (Not that I dislike Emersons, I carried a CQC-7 for work for many yrs).

Enjoy it.
